THE FIFTH ONE-DAY TRAINING FOR TEACHERS IN THE HERZEGOVINA-NERETVA CANTON : "Communication and Individual Cooperation of Teachers and Parents"


In the Student Hotel Mostar, on October 31, 2017, the fifth, and the last training within the program "Children are our mirror: Prevention of peer-based and gender-based violence in B&H schools" called Communication and individual cooperation between teachers and parents was held. The trainers were: Andrea Jevric, Edna Haznadarevic and Mirza Trbonja. At the training, there were 12 registered teachers from three primary schools: "Zalik", "Ivana Gundulica Mostar" and the "Third Primary School Mostar". All invited teachers responded to training. Representative and adviser of the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Herzegovina-Neretva County Emina Jusufbegović joined the training. The aim of the training is to strengthen competencies in the area of ​​successful communication and individual cooperation between teachers and parents as a key way to prevent and reduce peer-based and gender-based violence at school.

The training started with the Exercise Parental Meeting with the presentation of expectations, while for the completion of the training was exercise conducted in pairs in the group: Exchange of experiences and practical examples from practice.

Through a series of theoretical parts and participatory exercises, the training ended with the exchange of experiences imagining teachers in the "parents' shoes" and a discussion of the methods of school and parent cooperation so far, as well as awareness of their own prejudices and stereotypes. Through the laughter and good mood, the expertise of the leaders as well as the teachers who actively participated in this training, the participants concluded that such and similar educational and creative trainings should often be organized as it represents an important educational program for the teaching staff in this canton.
